The question

How can smart-card records be used to evaluate the performance of public bus services?

  • Ph.D. thesis: Evaluation of the Public Bus Transit Performance Based on Smart Card Data.
  • Related METU public-transport research and smart-card performance evaluation.

My work

  • Conducted doctoral research in Traffic and Transportation Engineering at METU.
  • Studied evaluation of public bus transit performance using smart-card data.

Research method

  1. Evaluate smart-card data quality and identify gaps.
  2. Estimate boarding-stop locations and match bus routes with smart-card records using GIS linear referencing.
  3. Use the processed records to examine departure reliability, passenger loading and travel time for nine selected bus lines in Konya.

What I delivered

A completed Ph.D. thesis at METU in May 2024. Related selected conference work is listed on the research page.

Responsibilities are described within the stated institutional or project-team context.
